From September 18th until 24th Barcelona surrounds itself with party.

The city breaths art, dance, music and lots of joy during the festival dedicated to its patron saint, La Mercè. They have been held since 1871 and has not stopped surprising each year with new events, activities and above all, creativity.

Moreover, it is a festival that brings together artists from around the world showing their art and culture. At the same time, each year there is a guest city who stars several of the scenarios that are installed for the festival and are responsible to perform many other presentations such as the projection on the City Hall of Barcelona. Let´s remember 2014 with a funny animated story between a Catalan and a Swedish girl explaining the cultural differences since Stockholm was the city chosen that year.

For 2015, Buenos Aires is responsible of filling the spaces with tango and Argentine products. At Parc de la Ciutadella you will be able to find a stage called “Two Worlds: Buenos Aires-Barcelona” with presentations of exceptional dancers who mix tango music with theater and contemporary dance as well as aerial dance and even tango lessons for the audience. Also, there is a small stand selling Argentine products for those who miss or want to taste the delicious and known alfajores or herb to prepare the mate. But that is not all, Argentina is also known for its good meat so if you are hungry we recommend the space dedicated to grilled food named after their famous quarter called “El Caminito”. In addition, projections of Argentine films will be held in Cinemes Girona. All is covered to feel closely the culture of this beautiful country.

Among other activities there are circus acrobats with great shows and entertainment at the Castle of Montjüic and street concerts in different venues with performances by renowned artists such as Crystal Fighters and Maldita Nerea. Additionally, it is a good opportunity to learn about those areas that are open to the public for free as the Albéniz Palace, current official residence of the King of Spain during his visits to the city.

There are endless possibilities in this festival which fills people of emotion and at the same time stress for the quantity of activities there are at the same time in different parts of the city. However, keep calm! It’s all about organization so we invite you to download the mobile application and get informed of everything that is being held on real time. You can also get the programe information on each of the spaces or visit the website created for La Mercè 2015.

Meanwhile, do not forget to review “The 5 3 1 Combination” of the week to learn more about this festval.

Enjoy the party!
