Charlye L was born in Hong Kong to a half Singaporean/half Vietnamese mother and a Chinese father. He was then raised in Sydney, Australia from the age of 6. He started modelling in Sydney with Ice Models, but soon went onto pursuing his modelling career in China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan. He received training at Modelline Academy in South Korea, and subsequently gained most of his runway experience from Seoul Collection. In 2011, Charlye entered Men’s Uno超級名模大賽 (a modelling competition ran by Men’s Uno, a famous magazine company in Asia) and got first place in Taiwan. Continued onto Mr.Uno型男模特大賽(Inter-Asia stage of the competition), which had models from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, as well as Malaysia, and got into top 20. Currently based in Taiwan, Charlye is trying to hit higher heights not only as a model, but also as an actor. His dream is to become a Goodwill Ambassador for a charity organisation.
