From august 15th to 21st the streets of Gràcia emblazon to celebrate its Festa Major, one of the most expected from summer in Barcelona.
Travelling from one country to another and from one magical world to another was never this easy. Without going away from Barcelona the people has been able arrive at a few steps to the Eiffel Tower through the famous gate of the Moulin Rouge that discovered the decoration of the Sant Antoni passage. From listening to the classic Non, Je ne regrette rien from the great french artist Edith Piaf the sound of typical flutes from japanese traditional music arrives together of a Sakura (cherry-blossom tree) at Verdi street. All this, of course, making the connection at the airport located at Joan Blanques de Baix de Tot street equipped with a control tower, a baggage belt and a Little bus to transport them to the plane.
The magical universes inspired on the movies could not be missed with the recreates of the film Avatar at Progrès street that never stops surprising with the dimensions of the characters that catch a lot the attention and the light details that perfectly represent the fantastic elements inside this fascinating and mysterious world. On the other hand, an unknown tribe could be found surrounded by giant carnivorous plants at Fraternitat street meanwhile a Vivald`s violin and orchestra concert, The Four Seasons, sounds at Providència street.
A total of 18 streets have participated on the contest receiving around two million people who, not only enjoyed the decorations of each of them, but also the balconies that participated on the creation of little theme spaces. Additionally, the blues and swing concerts together with experts on this dance filled up with joy and rhythm the Plaça del Diamant called for this occasion Plaça del Swing. Pop, rock and indie music had their space too with the performances of different bands at the Festigàbal, event that is always present at the Local Festival of Gràcia. Meanwhile, Plaça del Sol and Plaça de la Vila did not miss the rumba, rap and reggae.
For the little ones there has been family activities organized such as the gymkhana, water balloon battle, chocolate experience, board games, etc. At the same time, the gastronomy was present not only on the different restaurants located at the neighbourhood which opened their doors to feed the hungry palates but also at the food stands located at each of the street and the wine tastings and dinners at open air.
Definitely, a party that never disappoints the people who live in Barcelona and surprises the tourists that are in the city and get the chance to know about something typical from it close to its population.
